Throughout this age those men and women fought for their throw independence and freedoms. However none of these freedoms happened until the rich 1800?s. The black men and women of this time never got the opportunities to earn favorable or have property of their admit. The black communities thought that when thraldom was abolished everything would change. That, however, did not happen.

Some things did change but not as many as what was thought. There wer e still some things that would no be changed for many years. Men still could not own property, vote for their own leaders, or go anywhere the color men were allowed to go. As was the same for the black women.
