Dear Diary,
Im taking you along with me to my travel of hard times. It was March 1938 when I hopped on my first shipment at Owatonna, Minnesota, on a cold winters night. I was turning to leave, when the grocer said, Wait a minute. He went to the back room of the store and returned with a paper bag. I thanked him and hurried to Faham and Subhan, a big grin on my face as I showed them the bag of goodies. The sack had peppiness snaps, all so polluted with kerosene, we couldnt eat one.
